In order to confirm the role of the amino acid substitution at position 185 in viral neutralization susceptibility to b12, a mutation, D185G, was introduced into 47PL1-N197Q, a b12-susceptible AE-Env mutant, and its effect on viral b12 susceptibility was tested.
