The preC-W28Stop, known as a preC mutation at 1896 nt, leads to premature termination of HBeAg, resulting in HBeAg-negative infection in chronic patients with its mutation, of which the frequency was significantly higher in rt269I strains than in rt269L strains (q < 0.001).
