Viral Adaptation to T Lymphocytes Contributes to Variability in SERINC5 Downregulation ActivityNotably, three Nef polymorphisms that were associated with a substantial reduction in SERINC5 downregulation function, I43V (-49% activity), K94E (-38%), and H116N (-14%) (Table 1), are viral "escape mutations" selected in CD8+ T cell epitopes restricted by HLA-C*03, B*08, and B*57, respectively.
