As a consequence of HBV overlapping open reading frames, the nucleotide changes in the S gene (A521G, A551T, and A562G) were associated with amino acid alterations in the reverse-transcriptase domain of the HBV polymerase protein: rtN131S, rtY141F, and rtM145V, respectively, while C582T caused silent mutation [20].
